A Thai Girls Musings
Now that Golf has been in the U.S. for over one and a half years she wants to share some of her thoughts and observations about life in the U.S. versus life in Thailand. So, this will be the beginning of a series of posts about her thought and feeling since coming to the U.S. She said she will try to post once a week, but it could be more or less than that. Posts will be in both English and Thai so her Thai friends can enjoy her posts as well. Hope you all enjoy!
Foreigner or Farang in Thai peoples idea became a part of me after I was married with my husband Steve. A year and 8 months in the U.S. makes me feel like this country is the second home of mine even I totally felt awkward from the beginning. Many things have changed and make me more happier than before. Today made me think back about what I have told my husband before “I wanted us moving back to Thailand soon”. I don’t know how soon it’s going to be anymore, now that a lot of things happened in Thailand...corruption, politics and economy, all effect to cost of living that the income never move forward with. I don’t have the answer for myself and him about when…hopefully someday!
คนต่างชาติหรือที่พี่ไทยเรียกจนติดปากว่า ”ฝรั่ง” ได้เข้ามาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของชีวิตหลังจากที่แต่งงานกะสตีฟ
1ปี กับอีก 8 เดือนในอเมริกาทำให้เรารู้สึกว่าที่นี่เป็นเหมือนบ้านหลังที่สอง แม้ว่าในตอนแรกจะรู้สึกยังกะยัยบ้านนอกเข้ากรุงก็ไม่ปาน หลายๆอย่างในชีวิตเปลี่ยนไปในทางที่ดีขึ้น มีความสุขมากขึ่นจากเมื่อก่อน
ณ วันนี้ ตอนนี้ ทำให้หวนกลับไปคิดถึงตอนที่มาอเมริกาใหม่ ๆ ที่เคยพูดไว้กะสตีฟว่า “ อยากให้เราสองคนย้ายกลับไปเมืองไทยให้เร็วที่สุด” แต่ตอนนี้ชักเริ่มไม่แน่ใจแล้วอะ ว่าจะเป็นเมื่อไหร่ดี ยิ่งตอนนี้นะยิ่งมามีไอ้เรื่องคอรัปชง คอรัปชั่น การเมืองที่ไม่จบไม่สิ้น (ทะเลาะกันอยู่ได้น่ารำคาญ) แล้วไหนจาเรื่องปากท้อง ยิ่งรายรับสวนกระแสกับรายจ่ายอย่างนี้อีก ก็เลยยิ่งไม่รู้ว่าเมื่อไรจะกลับ สักวัน…ก็หวังว่าอะนะ…( รอตั้งตัวให้ได้ก่อน อิ อิ )

I love the culture, the people, the food. Thailand is my personal paradise. 
I spent a lot of time at the wats and learning the spirituality as well as having the opportunity to stay with a fairly traditional Thai family for nine months. I learned more in that nine months and felt more “at home” than I ever had in my life!

Hi Chani , I haven’t seen you in here for a while too. I’m glad to hear back from you in my first post after at least 6 months from my last post. How do you like it over there? I miss Thai people and Thai food a lot, looking forward to going back next year.
