Dew Thailand
I was never a big soda drinker back in the States. Maybe twice a week or so I would have a soda, preferring water, coffee or beer as my beverage of choice. When I did have soda though my choice was almost always Mountain Dew.
Don’t ask why I was addicted to the Dew. It’s super sweet and loaded with caffeine…not a combination I would normally say I like. But there’s just something about Dew that makes it addictive. And it’s not just me. I thought maybe it’s because I drank it so much when I was a teen and young adult…it’s perfect when you have “cotton mouth”. However I quickly found that you can learn to love it at an older age too, since Golf took to it like a fish to water.
It’s been nearly 3 months since I had a Mountain Dew, it’s just not readily available here in Thailand. It’s even more difficult to find than Beer Lao Dark. Strange when you consider how popular Pepsi is because Dew is a Pepsi product.
Today the dry spell has been broken though as I chanced upon Mountain Dew for sale right here in the heart of Bangkok! Needless to say I am a happy camper and will enjoy my small stock of Mountain Dew immensely. DO THE DEW!

I agree that small thing in life!! But 43 thb a can is a little more reasonable..might have to drop by and pick me up a couple cans!
They have actually had it pretty regularly since I posted this. Last time I was there they had the Raspberry version of Dew as well (the one in the blue can). Maybe the owners of Villa read Thailand Musings?
Yeah, i miss some stuff from back home in England that just isn’t available here. Marmite, HP sauce, branston pickle, etc
And when you do find some you don’t even enjoy it as you feel guilty about using up your supply !
I’m sure I’ve seen HP Sauce either at Villa or Emporium…haven’t seen the others, but haven’t really been looking either. I do know what you mean about feeling guilty about using up your supply though!
Villa on Sukhumvit 11 definitely has HP, as do all the larger Tesco stores. I can’t abide Mountain Dew myself, but I have a couple of friends up in Chiang Mai who never stop going on about it. I suspect the secret ingredient is crack.
I think Mountain Dew is an acquired taste, usually acquired during the teen years. Although Golf likes it too and she only experienced it for the first time in her mid-twenties. Maybe no crack in there, but there is a commensurate amount of caffeine
I wonder can they even get Mt. Dew in Chiang Mai?
So where did you find the Mt.Dew ?
LOL…I thought no one would ever ask. I found it at the Villa Market on Sukhumvit (near 33). It’s all gone now, although if you’re interested they have cherry Coke. There was also a girl on FB who told me they sell it at the Tesco/Lotus in Pinklao although I haven’t been out there to confirm yet as I’m still working my way through my stash from Villa.
Seen Dew, Cherry Coke and Dr. Pepper at most of the Villa Markets I’ve been to, 55 thb a can is more than I want to pay though!
At one time or another, but not consistently. I think I paid 43thb per can for the Dew, expensive (considering you can get a case of 24 in the States for $6), but worth it to me. Anyway I only bought 6 not a whole case. Sometimes its the small things in life

Too late for now, I was just there and the Dew is all gone. No telling when they will get it back, but if I see it I’ll update here.
I’ve never seen a Mountain Dew in Thailand. Although I can say that I recently bought some A&W Root Beer, but apparently that’s more an American thing then anything else.
A&W is pretty much what I’ve been drinking when I get a craving for soda in Thailand. THAT I can get at Tesco. This is the first I’ve ever stumbled across Mountain Dew though. Fortuitous coincidence as I am making Buffalo wings tomorrow and the two go very well together
